Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early; scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here
* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

Swimming Streamlined
Swimming Streamlined is an aquatic program that will also incorporate exclusive gym time and is designed to improve swimming skills through a focus on stroke mechanics and resistance traning. Swimming instructor, Mark Riley, weill be at the C.V. Starr Communtiy Center pools on Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:30pm-6:30pm and Friday ecenings 5:30pm-6:30pm in the gym to assist with stroke development for swimmers from ages 16 and up. Mark has help aquatic certifications from the American Red Cross, YMCA, and the University of Tennessee.

Jazz
This class is a fusion of the best of Contemporary and Jazz techniques. Students will learn technique and terminology, correct body placement and breathing, spatial awareness, and expressive movement. Balance, strength, flexibility, and creativity are emphasized in
every class. Classes include warm-up, centre work and progressions across the floor, and are open to all levels.

Ballet
Students will begin learning proper classical ballet technique and terminology, correct body placement and breathing, and expressive movement. Balance, strength, flexibility, and creativity are emphasized in every class. Classes include a complete barre and centre and are
open to all levels.

Combo Jazz and Ballet Dance
This class is a combination of Maria’s Jazz and Ballet classes to showcase the two different dance styles. Please wear clothes that are easy to move around in.

Water Saftey Aid
The water saftey Aides program is designed for students ages 11-15. Participants will be taught fundamentals of water saftey and learn the responsibilities, roles and duties of C. V. Starr lifeguards. They will also assist with water saftey duties. The role of a lifeguard is more than just saving people, but preventing injuries and unsafe behavior of pool patrons. Saftey is the number one role of lifegurads. If one day you wish to become a lifeguard, this is the class for you. (Registration opens Monday April 3rd 6:00am)

Lifeguard Class
We are looking for Lifeguards!
We are offering a free class to get you ready to pass the swim tests. Lifeguard Prep Class will be Saturdays May 13 – June 3rd 10:00am-11:30am in the C. V. Starr Center pools. Our trained staff will help guide you through a series of skills that are required to pass the lifeguarding swim test.

If you are 15 or over and looking for a great job, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is the place to start! Learn all the skills needed to work at the C.V. Starr Community Center. There is NO FEE for those who will be employed by the C.V. Starr Community Center. All other participants will be charged $175.Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If a swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course. When you register, pick up the class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of the class. You must register at least 3 days before the start of the class. Bring your Swim Suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.
Spring Splash
Come join us for this craft making and games at our Spring Splash. In the middle of the day the kiddos will make a splash in our Swim/Slide/Splash session. Please pack a lunch and we will provide a snack in the middle of the day. You must pre-register for this event.

Easter Splash!
Bring your suit and towel for a morning full of Easter eggy fun! This event will welcome all children from zero to twelve years old. The leisure pool will close and arubber duckie race will take place in our lazy river after ample time of egg hunting. This event is two hours of Easter fun. Please bring your own basket to place your eggs in.

Mother's Day Boquet
Kids Open Art Studio
Kids Open Art Studio gives children the opportunity to explore their creativity while having access to a wide range of inspiring materials and a variety of ways to use them. Along with special featured activities and materials, centers/stations may include: play dough and clays, drawing stations with step-by-step activities, a painting center with easels along with a watercolor station, collage art, building and construction station, plus more. Children may move freely between different activity stations, spending as little or as much time as they choose at each. Robin encourages creative thinking, and provides gentle guidance in her open studio art workshops.

Kids Night Out
It’s a Kids’ Night Out! Parents take a break or enjoy a night out on the town while we entertain your little ones with games, crafts or coloring as well as swim time in the pool. A snack will be provided.

Kayak in the Pool
Enjoy learning basic kayaking skills in the comfort of our pool. Practice paddling, entering and exiting your kayak, and getting used to how a kayak feels. Then challenge yourself to re-enter your kayak or just practice hanging onto the side to keep yourself afloat. No rolling will be allowed. Single kayaks only for this activity. Sit on top kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Pre-registration is required. (Registration opens Monday April 3rd 6:00am)

This is an innovative educational program focused on introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery. Not sure if this is the sport for you? Come try our one-hour class. Meeting at the grass field at the Redwood Elementary School in Fort Bragg. All materials are provided at no additional charge. If you would like to use your own bow, you must provide your own arrows. All skill levels are welcome. Pre-Register quickly! Space is limited!

Skate Night
Fun for the whole family! Bring your skates and pads, or use some of ours! Its all included in the fee! We have in-line and quad style skates in sizes for the whole family! Under 18 needs parent signature. Parents must sign children in and fill out waiver forms.
