Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early; scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

Valentine Card Making

Valentine Card making class is perfect for those who want to make something exceptional for their special someone. This two hour class will keep children engaged and inspired to make the prefect card for the perfect person.

Father Daughter Dance in Fort Bragg

A night to remember! Dads or adult chaperones bring that special person in your life and enjoy a night of dancing. Refreshments will be served and your favorite tunes will rock the house. This year our event will take place at the Old Rec Gym at 213 E Laurel St in Fort Bragg 
* Father/ Daughter or any parent figure and Daughter. If a son wants to come that is ok, no family will be turned away.

Ballet

Students will begin learning proper classical ballet technique and terminology, correct body placement and breathing, and expressive movement. Balance, strength, flexibility, and creativity are emphasized in every class. Classes include a complete barre and centre and are
open to all levels.

Jazz

This class is a fusion of the best of Contemporary and Jazz techniques. Students will learn technique and terminology, correct body placement and breathing, spatial awareness, and expressive movement. Balance, strength, flexibility, and creativity are emphasized in
every class. Classes include warm-up, centre work and progressions across the floor, and are open to all levels.

Combo Jazz and Ballet Dance

This class is a combination of Maria’s Jazz and Ballet classes to showcase the two different dance styles. Please wear clothes that are easy to move around in.

Lifeguard Class

We are looking for Lifeguards!


LIFEGUARD CLASS

Tuesday – Saturday December 27 -31
9:00am-5:00pm
Or Tuesday – Saturday February 21-25

If you are 15 or over and looking for a great job, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is the place to start! Learn all the skills needed to work at the C.V. Starr Community Center.

There is NO FEE  for those who will be employed by the C.V. Starr Community Center. All other participants will be charged $175.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If a swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course.

When you register, pick up the class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of the class. You must register at least 3 days before the start of the class.

Bring your Swim Suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.

Water Saftey Aid

The water saftey Aides program is designed for students ages 11-15. Participants will be taught fundamentals of water saftey and learn the responsibilities, roles and duties of C. V. Starr lifeguards. They will also assist with water saftey duties. The role of a lifeguard is more than just saving people, but preventing injuries and unsafe behavior of pool patrons. Saftey is the number one role of lifegurads. If one day you wish to become a lifeguard, this is the class for you.

How to Catch a Leprechaun

Want to catch a leprechaun? This class will require students to work both their logical mind and get creative in order to successfully construct a leprechaun trap.

CPR/First Aid/AED Adult and Pediatric

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult, children and infants. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning, an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the class room session and must be taken on a Flash enabled computer with high speed internet connection.

Robin's Mini Murals

Robin will guide participants in creating a personal mural you can take home while also finishing up a larger mural that will be hung in the old rec gym.

Kids Night Out

It’s a Kids’ Night Out! Parents take a break or enjoy a night out on the town while we entertain your little ones with games, crafts or coloring as well as swim time in the pool. A snack will be provided.

Spring Splash

Come join us for this craft making and games at our Spring Splash. In the middle of the day the kiddos will make a splash in our Swim/Slide/Splash session. Please pack a lunch and we will provide a snack in the middle of the day. You must pre-register for this event.

Easter Splash!

Bring your suit and towel for a morning full of Easter eggy fun! This event will welcome all children from zero to twelve years old. The leisure pool will close and arubber duckie race will take place in our lazy river after ample time of egg hunting. This event is two hours of Easter fun. Please bring your own basket to place your eggs in.

Youth Basketball League

This program is designed for all children in grades 3rd through 8th. No experience necessary. 

Note: We will have a draft during our player assessment dates, where we will be evaluating each child and placing them according to our evaluations. We will be freezing rosters after the draft. Clinics are at Old Rec Gym on corner of Franklin and Laurel St.

Last day to register is November 21st or when space is full, whichever comes first.

MCRPD Hoopstars! Youth Basketball Clinics in Fort Bragg

This program is designed for children to be introduced to the sport of Basketball. Participants will get direction about the fundamentals of the sport and have fun!

MCRPD Hoopstars! Youth Basketball Clinics in Point Arena

This program is designed for children in grades K- 5th to get the feel of some gentle basketball direction and coaching. This class will go over fundamentals of basketball, teamwork, and basic principles of how the game is played. Whether new to the hoops or a passionate player, Hoopstars is a class for you. (Registration opens Monday February 6th at 6:00am)

Skate Night

Fun for the whole family! Bring your skates and pads, or use some of ours! Its all included in the fee! We have in-line and quad style skates in sizes for the whole family! Under 18 needs parent signature. Parents must sign children in and fill out waiver forms.
