Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early; scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

South Coast Swim Lessons

Registration opens Tuesday May 31st at 6:00am. You can register online, by phone or in person at the C. V. Starr Center in Fort Bragg.

CPR/First Aid/AED Adult and Pediatric

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult, children and infants. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning, an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the class room session and must be taken on a Flash enabled computer with high speed internet connection.

This is an innovative educational program focused on introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery. Not sure if this is the sport for you? Come try our one-hour class. Meeting at the grass field at the Redwood Elementary School in Fort Bragg. All materials are provided at no additional charge. If you would like to use your own bow, you must provide your own arrows. All skill levels are welcome. Pre-Register quickly! Space is limited!

Draw and Paint with Robin (Ages 4-7)

In this class, students will lean the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Begin with simple contour line drawings using pencils, pens and ink. Learn about shading and form using pastels. Create fun, colorful art using water colors and paints. Projects include ocean, animals, nature and abstract art.

Draw and Paint with Robin (Ages 8-13)

In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Learn about line, shape, form, space, texture, value and color. Learn about sketching, composition, shading, perspective and optical illusions using graphite pencils, pen and ink. Turn your sketches into works of art with pastels, watercolors, or acrylic paints.

Lifeguard Prep Class and Lifeguard Class

LIFEGUARD CLASS

If you are 15 or over and looking for a great job, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is the place to start! Learn all the skills needed to work at the C.V. Starr Community Center.

There is NO FEE  for those who will be employed by the C.V. Starr Community Center. All other participants will be charged $175.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If a swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course.

When you register, pick up the class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of the class. You must register at least 3 days before the start of the class.

Bring your Swim Suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.

C & J Ales Memorial Softball Tournament

Our 23rd annual event celebrating the lives of Jess and Charlie Ales, and their love of the game. This is a double elimination tournament with a 3-game guarantee. Tournament located at the Dana Gray Elementary School fields. $400 team fee.

Registration and team fee deadline is Thursday July 28 2022

Tony's Homerun Derby

In Memory of Tony the Mic Anderson. Tony’s Homerun Derby will consist of 2-3 rounds of batting depending on the amount of participants! Each participant will be responsible for providing their own pitcher who will pitch from behind a screen. The winner will recieve a tournament bat after the tournament is over and a gift basket of local goodies. Every participant will recieve a Tony’s Homerun Derby shirt. Just For Kids

Join us once again for play and learning in a structured day camp environment!  We visit the pool at the CV Starr Community Center on select days.  Bring your goggles, towels and swim wear on the pool days.

Participants bring a sack lunch…..2 snacks are provided!

Friday Kayak Series in Pool: Basic Skills

Enjoy learning basic kayaking skills in the comfort of our pool. Practice paddling, entering and exiting your kayak, and getting used to how a kayak feels. Then challenge yourself to re-enter your kayak or just practice hanging onto the side to keep yourself afloat. No rolling will be allowed. Single kayaks only for this activity. Sit on top kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Pre-registration is required.

Kayak Adventures- Noyo River

Noyo River is one of Mendocino County’s most prized and beautiful waterways. the Noyo River supplies domestic water to the city of Fort Bragg and wastershed has provided rich timber resources for mills since the 1850’s. The sights are breathtaking, and the paddling is easy. Come paddle with us up the Noyo.

  • Noyo River  (Generally Easy Paddling) Noyo River is one of Mendocino County’s most amazing paddling adventures! Noyo River is a gentle, Class 1 river suitable for all skill levels. Join us for a guided tour up this scenic river. (parking/launch fees included)

Come join the fun! We’ll learn how to flip our fins and show you that sharks and mermaids do get along. We will start with a treasure hunt, obstacle course and free fin fun time, ending with us beaching to the party room with more surprises to come. Must be comforable swimming and putting face in the water. (Tail and fins are provided)
