Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early; scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

C. V. Starr Community Center Easter Egg Splash

Bring your suit and towel for a day full of water fun!  We will start with an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 1-12 in our Leisure Pool and Lap Pool.  We will end with a Rubber Duck Race in the Lazy River.  There are lots of prizes for the whole family!  Feel free to enjoy the rest of the day here at the C.V. Starr Center enjoying our pools and splash features.  Remember to bring a water proof container to put your eggs in.

Father Daughter Dance

A night to remember! Dads or adult chaperones bring that special person in your life and enjoy a night of dancing. Refreshments will be served and your favorite tunes will rock the house. This year our event will take place at the Old Rec Gym at 213 E Laurel St in Fort Bragg

Kids Night Out

Parents take the night off and enjoy staying at home or going out on a date. Everyone can swim, just as long as they are willing to wear a life jacket or pass a swim test without a life jacket. A snack will be provided.

Sharks and Mermaid Extravaganza

Come join the fun in the pool! We’ll learn how to flip our fins and show that Mermaids and Sharks really do get along. We’ll start in the water with treasure hunts, obstacle courses and free fin time, ending with all Mermaids and Sharks beaching into the party room with more surprises to come. Must be comfortable swimming and putting your face in the water. (Mermaid tails and Shark fins provided)

Spring Wreath

Spruce up a wall with a Spring Wreath.  We’ll use cardboard, glue gun felt and twigs.

Knot and Beaded Bracelets

You’ll learn how to knot and bead a bracelet. We will have a variety of stings to suite your ability and glass beads for your creativity.

Kayak Practice in Comp Pool

During this time the Lap Pool will be available for you to bring your own kayak in to practice your rolling skills. This time is not instructor led. There will be lifeguards on the pool deck.

Friday Kayak Series in Leisure Pool: Basic Skills

Enjoy learning basic kayaking skills in the comfort of our 85-degree leisure pool. Practice paddling, entering and exiting your kayak, and getting used to how a kayak feels. Then challenge yourself to re-enter your kayak or just practice hanging onto the side to keep yourself afloat. No rolling will be allowed. Single kayaks only for this activity. Sit on top kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Pre-registration is required.

Beginner Archery

Ready, Aim, Fire! Learn to focus and hit your goal with archery! Practice basic archery safety and skills with our trained staff and find your new hobby! Try Archery

This is an innovative educational program focused on introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery. Not sure if this is the sport for you? Come try our one-hour class. Meeting at the grass field on the south side of the C. V. Starr Community Center. All materials are provided at no additional charge. CPR/First Aid/AED Adult and Pediatric

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult, children and infants. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning, an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the class room session and must be taken on a Flash enabled computer with high speed internet connection.

Red Cross Lifeguard/ Shallow Water/ Water Park Blended Learning Class. First Aid, CPR for the Pro/ AED and Title 22

Are you 15 or older and looking for a great job or challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course. When you register, pick up a class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of this class. You must register 3 days before the class starts.

Bring your swim suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.
