Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early; scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

Try Archery

This is an innovative educational program focused on introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery. Not sure if this is the sport for you? Come try our one-hour class. Meeting at the grass field on the south side of the C. V. Starr Community Center. All materials are provided at no additional charge. If you would like to use your own bow, you must provide your own arrows. All skill levels are welcome. Pre-Register quickly! Space is limited!

Students will begin learning proper classical ballet technique and terminology, correct body placement and breathing, and expressive movement. Balance, strength, flexibility, and creativity are emphasized in every class. Classes include a complete barre and centre and are
open to all levels.

every class. Classes include warm-up, centre work and progressions across the floor, and are open to all levels.

Just For Kids

Join us once again for play and learning in a structured day camp environment!  Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we visit the pool at the CV Starr Community Center from 1-3. Bring your goggles, towels and swim wear on the pool days.

Participants bring a sack lunch…..2 snacks are provided!

Tai Chi Martial Arts

Whether you’re interested in Health and Wellness or Martial Arts, this class has you covered. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of Chen-Style T’ai Chi Ch’uan (Taijiquan), as taught by 2019 Berkeley CMAT Push Hands Gold-Medal winner Scott Menzies, who studied these arts in Taiwan/China and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Skills will include fundamental movements, a Qigong (Chi Kung) routine, Silk-Reeling Practices, and 8 Methods Basic Practices. Attendees will also be introduced to T’ai Chi Spear. This class is open to all levels, and Scott’s students range in age from 16 and up.

Adult Volleyball-Drop In

Skate Night

Fun for the whole family! Bring your skates and pads, or use some of ours! Its all included in the fee! We have in-line and quad style skates in sizes for the whole family! Under 18 needs parent signature. Parents must sign children in and fill out waiver forms.

Youth Basketball League

This program is designed for all children in grades 3rd through 8th. No experience necessary. 

Note: We will have a draft during our player assessment dates, where we will be evaluating each child and placing them according to our evaluations. We will be freezing rosters after the draft. Clinics are at Old Rec Gym on corner of Franklin and Laurel St.

Lifeguard Prep Class and Lifeguard Class

We are looking for Lifeguards!

Lifeguard Prep Class
Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: November 14-December 10
Sundays from 10:00am to 11:00am
Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Fridays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Want to be a Lifeguard but the test feels daunting? This is the class for you. Our trained staff will help guide participants through a series of skills that will encourage and train you for the Lifeguarding pre-requisites. Ages 15+ welcome. Not all days for attendance will be required but will be encouraged.

 


LIFEGUARD CLASS

Monday—Friday
December 27-31 from 9:00am to 5:30pm

If you are 15 or over and looking for a great job, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is the place to start! Learn all the skills needed to work at the C.V. Starr Community Center.

There is NO FEE  for those who will be employed by the C.V. Starr Community Center. All other participants will be charged $175.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If a swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course.

When you register, pick up the class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of the class. You must register at least 3 days before the start of the class.

Bring your Swim Suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.

Winter Wonders with Santa

 Visit with Santa

Happy Holidays everyone! Come visit Santa Claus at the C.V. Starr Community Center and let him know what you want for Christmas this year! Unable to come in person but still want to see Santa?

Santa will be on the South Coast Saturday December 11th! Visit him in Gualala 11:00am-1:00pm at the Gualala Community Center  or in Point Arena at the City Hall 2:00pm-4:00pm.

Santa will be at the C.V. Starr Community Center on December 18th from 1pm to 4pm. 

Santa will be bringing his postal express mail box wherever her goes! Bring a letter to your visit and he will take it back to the North Pole. Include your return address and you will get a letter back!

 


The Postal Express

Starting December 1 , stop by the C.V. Starr Community Center to mail your letter to Santa, be sure to turn them in by  Wednesday December 18. Santa’s mailbox will appear in our lobby during regular business hours.  The Postal Express will also have a drop off location at the Coast Highway Collecting in Point Arena December 1 – 10th. 284 Main St Point Arena CA 95468                                                 

Email us a photo of your child’s letter if you cannot come by to cwells@mcrps.us                                            Please include your name and address if you would like a letter back from Santa.

Kids Night Out- New Years Eve Bash!

End the year with a fun-filled night of skating and various games and activities as we count down to the new year! Snacks will be provided, please encourage your child to eat a full meal before drop off. Bring a pillow and sleeping bag. At the Old Rec Gym 213 E Laurel St in Fort Bragg.
