Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early, scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

Kids Night Out

Parents take the night off and enjoy staying at home or going out on a date. Everyone can swim, just as long as they are willing to wear a life jacket or pass a swim test without a life jacket. A snack will be provided.

Sharks and Mermaid Extravaganza

Come join the fun in the pool! We’ll learn how to flip our fins and show that Mermaids and Sharks really do get along. We’ll start in the water with treasure hunts, obstacle courses and free fin time, ending with all Mermaids and Sharks beaching into the party room with more surprises to come. Must be comfortable swimming and putting your face in the water. (Mermaid tails and Shark fins provided)

Mixed Self Defense Class

This class will take you through fundamental techniques for basic self-defense. You will have the opportunity to develop skills by using a variety of martial arts fitness and training techiques. Plan on getting in shape, while learning how to best defend yourself.

Hula Classes for Youth and Adults

Learn how to do the Hula in a fun, friendly environment! Dress casually. Feel free to let the instructor know of any concerns you may have. Aloha!

Tai Chi Chih

Tai Chi Chih is a method of self-healing. This moving meditation consist of 20 easy-to-learn flowing movements. Benefits include improved balance, energy, concentration, immunity, and sleep; as well as reduced stress, blood pressure and arthritis symptoms. Appropriate for most ages and physical conditions. If we meet our minimum enrollment 2 days before the session, we will allow drop ins for $15 per day.

Help, What's my iPad/Phone Doing?

Get in touch with family and friends using your iPad/Phone. You’ll learn how to use and set your phone up, so that it’s easier for you to use. This class will also show you how to add apps, email friends and use Facebook. Josie will be projecting what she teaches on the white board so that you can follow along easier.

Zumba Master Class

A Zumba Master Class is a dance-fitness party led by a ZIN Memb er that offers more than your average Zumba class! If you have children, sign them up for Kids Night Out and join the fun with your friends in a dance party with a twist. The Zumba Instructors will keep you dancing and laughing the whole night.

Mom and Son Minute to Win It

Ready-Set-Go! You and your son/sons will face challenges together as a team in this fun event! The one-minute challenges include games like; knocking down cups using a water gun, and throwing rings into a target. Father Daughter Dance

National Safe Boating Week Events

May 18, 2019 we will spend the whole day going over various kayaking safety tips. At the C. V. Starr Center, your family will have the chance to build a small boat and watch it race around the Lazy River, learn about lifejackets, their correct fit and get comfortable floating in one, learn what different whistle blasts mean and more. In the afternoon join us for a kayak trip up the Noyo River.

Friday Kayak Series in Leisure Pool: Basic Skills

Enjoy learning basic kayaking skills in the comfort of our 85-degree leisure pool. Practice paddling, entering and exiting your kayak, and getting used to how a kayak feels. Then challenge yourself to re-enter your kayak or just practice hanging onto the side to keep yourself afloat. No rolling will be allowed. Single kayaks only for this activity. Sit on top kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Pre-registration is required.

Red Cross Lifeguard/ Shallow Water/ Water Park Blended Learning Class. First Aid, CPR for the Pro/ AED and Title 22

Are you 15 or older and looking for a great job or challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course. When you register, pick up a class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of this class. You must register 3 days before the class starts.

Bring your swim suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.

CPR/First Aid/ AED Adult and Pediatric

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult, children and infants. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill sessions you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning, an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the class room session and must be taken on a Flash enabled computer with high speed internet connection.
