Scholarships are available though the Friends of MCRPD. Be sure to summit requests early, scholarships take up to one month to process. Download the application here

* Please note that not all activities will be available for online registration.
* C. V. Starr Community Center/ Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District Enrichment Class Refund Policy. If a program is canceled by the Center, the registrant will receive a credit on account or a refund check for the full amount may be requested. If a participant wishes to drop out of a class they must notify the center in person or by phone. When a refund is requested to be a credit on account there is no fee, if a participant requests a refund by check there is a $10 administrative fee deducted from the refund amount. To be eligible for a refund a participant must notify the center at least three days before the first day of the class. Refund requests made after this deadline will not be granted.
*Registrations are non-transferable. Split attendance is not allowed.

Kids Night Out

Parents take the night off and enjoy staying at home or going out on a date. Everyone can swim, just as long as they are willing to wear a life jacket or pass a swim test without a life jacket. A snack will be provided.

Sharks and Mermaid Extravaganza

Come join the fun in the pool! We’ll learn how to flip our fins and show that Mermaids and Sharks really do get along. We’ll start in the water with treasure hunts, obstacle courses and free fin time, ending with all Mermaids and Sharks beaching into the party room with more surprises to come. Must be comfortable swimming and putting your face in the water. (Mermaid tails and Shark fins provided)

Family Dance

This party has just the right mix for the whole family to get down! Come out and dance, with your family to kid-friendly music. Get in the groove and move! We’ll also have games and crafts available. To help us keep the cost of the program down, our staff will facilitate the program, but we’ll need you to supervise your children.

Summer Rays with Air Dry Clay

Start off your child’s summer creating those sea creatures we all know and love. Your child will make memorable trinkets like mermaids, turtles and jellyfish.

Summer Start with Clay Art

Your child will enjoy creating their own mask using air dry ceramics. They’ll learn to form the basic part of the mask and then add more clay to give their mask definition. The finishing touches will be painting and adding feathers and sequins to make the masks pop.

I Can Make My Own Breakfast

Don’t worry about making breakfast this morning, while you’re exercising or just getting some “me time” your child will be having fun, cracking eggs, flipping pancakes and creating a very tasty breakfast.

Little Picasso Art Class

Zumba Event

A Zumba Master Class is a dance-fitness party led by a ZIN Member that offers more than your average Zumba class! If you have children, sign them up for Kids Night Out and join the fun with your friends in a dance party with a twist. The Zumba Instructors will keep you dancing and laughing the whole night.

Mixed Self Defense Class

Try Archery

This is an innovative educational program focused on introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery. Not sure if this is the sport for you? Archery All Day Camp

This One-Day Camp is 4 hours of firing fun. Bring snacks and water. Kayak Adventures

C. V. Starr Community Center and the California Division of Boating and Waterways are happy to announce that a grant was awarded to the C. V. Starr Community Center to purchase kayak equipment and offer the opportunity to take the public on guided tours of our local rivers. We will also be offering kayak classes in the controlled environment of our leisure pool at the C. V. Starr Community Center.

Friday Kayak Series in Leisure Pool: Basic Skills

Enjoy learning basic kayaking skills in the comfort of our 85-degree leisure pool. Practice paddling, entering and exiting your kayak, and getting used to how a kayak feels. Then challenge yourself to re-enter your kayak or just practice hanging onto the side to keep yourself afloat. No rolling will be allowed. Single kayaks only for this activity. Sit on top kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Pre-registration is required.

CPR/First Aid/ AED Adult and Pediatric

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult, children and infants. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill sessions you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning, an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the class room session and must be taken on a Flash enabled computer with high speed internet connection.

Red Cross Lifeguard/ Shallow Water/ Water Park Blended Learning Class. First Aid, CPR for the Pro/ AED and Title 22

Are you 15 or older and looking for a great job or challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water.

Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using legs only and a timed swim test. If swimmer cannot meet these requirements, they will not be allowed to take the course. When you register, pick up a class syllabus, it will give you the link to the online portion of this class. You must register 3 days before the class starts.

Bring your swim suit, towel, pocket mask, manual, and the printed out confirmation that you have completed the online portion of the class.
